Leather Slings
Adult leather slings and swings, handmade from A-grade genuine leather with reinforced joints. Each leather sling is built for comfort and load, and rated for regular use rather than as a novelty item.
Construction
A-grade cow or buffalo leather, around 2 to 2.5 mm on the load straps
Joints that are bonded, stitched and riveted with nickel-plated rivets
D-rings or O-rings at each strap end, plus stirrups or leg loops on most models
A padded leather pillow on many
Typical capacity is up to 150 kg, about 350 lbs; each product page states the rating
Mounting a leather sling safely
A sling hangs from a four or five point frame or from a secure ceiling fixing. Chain, rope, hooks and fixings are not included unless the product page says otherwise. Use hardware rated well above the sling’s stated capacity, fix into a structural point such as a ceiling joist rather than plasterboard, and test with your weight low to the ground first.
Care
Wipe the leather with a soft dry cloth and condition it two or three times a year. Check every rivet, ring and seam before each use, and retire the sling if any hardware is loose or any strap shows cracking.
Common questions
What is included with a leather sling? The leather sling and its rings and stirrups. Suspension hardware such as chain and carabiners is bought separately.
Leather or webbing? Leather is stronger in the seat, more comfortable over time, and does not dig in the way narrow webbing can.
