Leather Welding Aprons
Welding throws spatter and UV, and a leather welding apron is the accepted barrier layer. It needs a high bib, long coverage and no exposed synthetic strap that can melt onto you, which is why a leather welding apron uses leather or metal fittings throughout.
Welding requirements

Thick full-grain or buffalo leather that stops spatter rather than letting it burn through
A high bib to protect the upper chest and throat area
Bib-to-knee or bib-to-ankle length depending on whether you weld standing or seated
Leather or metal straps and buckles only, since synthetic webbing can melt under spatter
A plain face with no open pockets where hot sparks can lodge

Is a leather welding apron enough on its own
For light bench work, often yes. For overhead work or heavy fabrication, pair the apron with a leather jacket, leather sleeves and a cape sleeve set so no clothing is exposed to falling spatter.
Care
Brush off spatter, wipe the apron with a dry cloth, and store it flat away from heat. Condition the leather occasionally. Pitting and scorch marks are expected and do not reduce protection much until the leather is worn thin enough that light shows through the pits.
Common questions
How long does a leather welding apron last? Years of regular use. Replace it when spatter has thinned the leather to the point that daylight shows through worn spots.
What length should I choose? Bib-to-knee for standing work, bib-to-ankle if you weld seated. See the full leather apron range.
