Genuine Leather Kilts
A leather kilt is a heavier, more hard-wearing take on the traditional kilt. This section covers utility kilts with pockets, pleated kilts, gothic and gladiator styles, made to the waist you choose.
Leather

Cowhide and cow skin is the usual choice, thick and durable, with a structured hang.
Buffalo has a heavier grain and takes a distressed finish well.
Top-grain cow leather on the gladiator and armour styles, often with nickel-plated hardware.

Styles

Utility kilt with cargo-style side pockets and adjustable straps
Pleated kilt with sharp box pleats for a traditional line
Gothic with straps, buckles and D-rings
Gladiator, a panelled strap skirt, sometimes sold as a set with bracers
Two-tone colours such as black and red or black and white

Fit and sizing
A kilt should sit at your natural waist, just above the hip bone. Choose your waist size from the drop-down at checkout. We email an order confirmation with the waist measurement and kilt length for that size so you can check them, and you can reply for an adjustment or an unlisted size. Adjustable side straps give a couple of inches of range.
Care
Hang from the waistband, keep away from heat, and condition two or three times a year. Let it dry naturally if it gets wet.
Common questions
What do you wear under a leather kilt? That is up to you. For events and daily wear most people wear shorts or underwear underneath.
How heavy is it? A cowhide utility kilt is noticeably heavier than a wool kilt. It hangs straight because of the weight, which many people prefer.
Can I wear it every day? Yes. The utility kilts are built for it, with real pockets and a hard-wearing finish.
