Leather Barber Aprons | Slim Hair-Shedding Cut
Leather Barber Aprons
A leather barber apron is worn in front of clients all day, so it has to look sharp, brush hair off easily and wipe clean. A lighter, smoother leather does this better than a heavy workshop hide, and a good leather barber apron reads as tailored rather than like workwear.
Made for the chair
A smooth, lighter leather, often buffalo with a fine grain, so cut hair slides off instead of sticking
Cross-back straps that stay put while you move around the chair and do not dig in
A slim cut that looks tailored rather than bulky in a small shop
One or two pockets for combs, a phone or a card machine
Waist or chest-to-thigh length so it does not catch on the chair arm
Full apron or waist apron
A full bib protects your shirt from product, colour and clippings. A waist apron is lighter and reads more like a tool belt, which some barbers prefer for a busy walk-in shop.
Care
Brush hair off at the end of the day, wipe the face with a barely damp cloth, and condition the leather every couple of months to keep the finish even. Colour and product wipe off a smooth face while still wet.
Common questions
Does hair stick to a leather barber apron? Far less than to cotton or canvas. A smooth-finish apron sheds clippings with a quick brush between clients.
Which colour? Darker hides hide product marks and colour best. See the wider leather apron range.
